About these Snack Bites

If you love the grab-and-go superfood bites sold at coffee shops and bakeries, these will hit the same spot — but without the steep price tag. I used to buy them for nearly $5 a piece, so I started making my own. These Apple Cinnamon Bites are simple, satisfying, and way more economical.

They require only five ingredients and take under 20 minutes from start to finish. They’re perfect for quick snacks, meal prep, or tossing in a bag when you’re rushing out the door. Keep things simple and tasty with these energy bites.

Recipe Ingredients

hand holding cinnamon sugar and package of recommend nuts.
  • Apple – I prefer Honeycrisp for their crisp texture and natural sweetness, but any apple will work.
  • Peanut Butter – Use your favorite peanut butter. Classic creamy peanut butter works great here; natural or alternative nut butters will also be delicious.
  • Oats – Old fashioned rolled oats give the bites structure and a pleasant chew. Avoid steel-cut oats.
  • Cinnamon Sugar – Adds a warm, sweet note that complements the apple.
  • Slivered Almonds – Finely chopped for crunch. Pecans or walnuts can be substituted if preferred.

Recipe FAQs

How should I store these snack balls?

Keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week or freeze for up to three months. Portioning a few into small bags makes them easy to grab on the go.

What is the best way to form energy balls?

Use a small cookie scoop to portion the mixture, then roll quickly between your palms. If the mixture sticks, lightly spray your hands with cooking spray or wet them briefly.

Can I use steel cut oats for energy balls?

No — stick with rolled or quick oats. Steel cut oats are too coarse and chewy for this no-bake preparation.

Notes

For a nut-free version, use sunbutter or tahini. Do not substitute steel-cut oats — they’re too tough for this recipe. Store in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze for up to three months; portion into small bags for easy grab-and-go snacks.
