Perfect Easy Chicken Goujons!
Perfect and super easy chicken goujons (also known as chicken strips or fingers). A simple way to use chicken breasts for a tasty, family-friendly supper.
These are a healthier, homemade alternative to frozen nuggets or takeaway strips — you know exactly what’s in them: pure breast meat, perfectly seasoned and crisped in the oven.

So what exactly are chicken goujons?
Chicken goujons (also called chicken fingers, tenders or strips) are long strips of white chicken meat taken from the small pectoral muscles beneath the breast. They’re tender, lean and ideal for quick breading and baking.
Baked not fried
These goujons are baked rather than fried, so you avoid greasy frying smells and reduce oil — making them a healthier option for the whole family. Kids love dunking them in ketchup or mayo, and they’re fantastic for lunchboxes or a midweek dinner.
How do you make Easy Chicken Goujons?
The ingredients are minimal and the method is straightforward:
- Eggs (beaten)
- Chicken breast fillets, sliced into strips
- Seasoned breadcrumbs (or breadcrumbs with added garlic, herbs and grated Parmesan)

Breaded and baked
Coat each chicken strip in beaten egg, then press into the breadcrumb mix. Arrange the goujons on a baking tray, spray or drizzle lightly with oil, and bake until golden and cooked through. The result is crispy outside and soft, juicy chicken inside.

These are a family favourite — toddlers, kids and grown-ups alike often ask for seconds. Simple, comforting and satisfying.
To serve your Easy Chicken Strips
Serve as a main with baked beans, peas and new potatoes or mashed potato. They’re also great in wraps with salad and mayo for a quick lunch. A squeeze of ketchup or a pot of mayo for dipping completes the plate.

Can you eat chicken goujons cold?
Yes. Once baked, let the goujons cool and store them in the fridge. They’re delicious cold and travel well in a lunchbox — just keep them refrigerated until eaten.
