Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cup warm water about 110 degrees F
  • 2 envelopes Fleischmann’s® Active Dry Yeast
  • 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup grated apples

Sweet Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3-4 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  • Combine warm water and yeast in a large mixer bowl; let rest 5 minutes to proof.
  • Add 3 cups of the flour, granulated sugar, and kosher salt; stir to combine.
  • Warm the orange juice and melted butter together until about 100°–110°F. Pour into the flour mixture and add the eggs.
  • Beat briefly with an electric mixer to combine, then increase speed to medium-high and beat about 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the remaining flour until you have a stiff batter. Fold in grated apples.
  • Spoon the batter into two well-greased 8½ x 4-inch loaf pans. Cover and let rise in a warm, draft-free place for 60 to 90 minutes, or until doubled.
  • Bake at 350°F for 35 to 45 minutes, until the loaves are cooked through. Remove from pans and cool on a wire rack.
  • When cool, whisk powdered sugar with heavy cream until thick and smooth. Drizzle over the loaves, slice, and serve.
